Popular weight loss strategies

  • In a study conducted by the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in 2015-2016, among 48,026 U.S. residents over the age of 20, 42% of the participants replied that they are actively trying to lose weight.
  • Some of the strategies that participants used to lose weight were eating less (31.9%), exercising  (31.5%) and drinking more water (26.3%). They also said they were eating more fruits, vegetables and salads (29.4%); eating less sugar and fewer sweets (20.9%); and changing their eating habits (20.5%).
  • Please have in mind that the most important combination that people must use when they want to lose weight is exercise and diet together. People must create a deficit of calories, so the body will start using energy from fat stores. By increasing the energy expenditure through exercise and adopting a healthy lifestyle it will do the job.
